Our mission statement:
“By reaching out to people of all backgrounds with the truth of God’s word, St. Peter Lutheran Church builds lives on Christ the Rock.”
St. Peter Lutheran Church is located at the corner of S. 8th and W. Scott St, in the Walker's Square Neighborhood on the near south side of Milwaukee. We have a long history of serving our community on the south side of Milwaukee, first in German, then in English, and now also in Spanish. We are also working with refugees from the Karen tribe of Burma and Thailand. We believe that all people of all races and ethnic backgrounds are equally precious in God's sight, and we are enthusiastic about reaching out with the gospel to everyone who lives in our area.
While we remain firm in our commitment to the unchanging truths of the Bible, we are flexible in trying to help meet the needs of our changing community. Our Spanish ministry, homework help for Karen children, food pantry, and pregnancy counseling services, all demonstrate our commitment to show love and concern to the people of our neighborhood.
We are eager to build our church and excited to be slowly growing again as we actively reach out to the people of our community with the good news of Jesus. We enjoy the benefits of being a smaller, friendly congregation, where we can know and care for all our members and friends. We are a family of believers, showing love and compassion for each other, especially when someone is hurting.
While we use historical orders of worship, we are flexible in adding some new and contemporary elements to our services. Our services focus on God's word as found in our Scripture readings, hymns, and Biblical sermons. After our services we gather across the street in our community center to visit together and enjoy coffee and other refreshments. This is followed by Sunday School for children, and a well-attended adult Bible class where we continue to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God's word. During the week we also offer men's and women's Bible studies.

Together with Christ Lutheran Church about a mile away on Greenfield Ave, we share a two-campus elementary school where we offer exceptional private education in a safe and caring environment. Our teachers are all committed to sharing and showing Jesus' love in all classes and activities. We participate in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program in order to make our school available to more families in our community. Please go to the school link www.christ-stpeter.com for our school's web site and more information.
St. Peter is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, (W.E.L.S.) www.wels.net, a church body of about 1,200 congregations throughout North America, striving to be faithful to God's word and active in spreading the good news of Jesus!
