SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE LA PASCUA—Él vive para darme pruebas y paz
Sin la resurrección de Jesús, tendría que preguntarme si algo de lo que Él dijo era verdad. Tomás había sido enseñado y formado por Cristo mismo. Escuchó a Jesús predecir su muerte y su resurrección. Aun después de oír el testimonio de primera mano de sus amigos, Tomás todavía tenía dudas sobre la resurrección de Jesús.
Pero Él vive, y eso hace toda la diferencia. Hoy tengo gran consuelo como alguien que también tiene dudas acerca de las promesas de Cristo en mi vida. Jesús me encuentra con constantes seguridades en la Palabra y en los sacramentos. Tengo pruebas. Tengo paz.

CONFESIÓN DE LOS PECADOS
Hermanos y hermanas, Jesús nos mandó: «Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas. Y ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.»
Si decimos que no tenemos pecado, nos estamos engañando, y la verdad no está en nosotros. Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios es fiel y justo para perdonarnos y purificarnos de toda maldad.
Confesemos nuestros pecados contra Dios y contra nuestros prójimos:
Dios de misericordia, confesamos que estamos esclavizados por el pecado y no podemos liberarnos nosotros mismos. Hemos pecado contra ti en pensamiento, palabra y obra, por lo que hemos hecho y por lo que hemos dejado de hacer. No te hemos amado de todo corazón; no hemos amado a nuestros prójimos como a nosotros mismos. Por amor de tu Hijo Jesucristo, ten piedad de nosotros. LA ABSOLUCIÓN

SEGUNDA LECTURA 1 Pedro 1:3–9
San Pedro señala la resurrección como prueba de la esperanza que tenemos.
3 ¡Alabado sea Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo! Por su gran misericordia, nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo, para que tengamos una esperanza viva 4 y recibamos una herencia indestructible, incontaminada e inmarchitable. Tal herencia está reservada en el cielo para ustedes, 5 a quienes el poder de Dios protege mediante la fe hasta que llegue la salvación que se ha de revelar en los últimos tiempos. 6 Esto es para ustedes motivo de gran alegría, a pesar de que hasta ahora han tenido que sufrir diversas pruebas por un tiempo. 7 El oro, aunque perecedero, se acrisola al fuego. Así también la fe de ustedes, que vale mucho más que el oro, al ser acrisolada por las pruebas demostrará que es digna de aprobación, gloria y honor cuando Jesucristo se revele. 8 Ustedes lo aman a pesar de no haberlo visto; y aunque no lo ven ahora, creen en él y se alegran con un gozo indescriptible y glorioso, 9 pues están obteniendo la meta de su fe, que es su salvación.
Ésta es la Palabra de Dios.

Jesús dio la prueba que llevó a Tomás a la paz.
19 Al atardecer de aquel primer día de la semana, estando reunidos los discípulos a puerta cerrada por temor a los judíos, entró Jesús y, poniéndose en medio de ellos, los saludó. —¡La paz sea con ustedes! 20 Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Al ver al Señor, los discípulos se alegraron. 21 —¡La paz sea con ustedes!—repitió Jesús—. Como el Padre me envió a mí, así yo los envío a ustedes. 22 Acto seguido, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: —Reciban el Espíritu Santo. 23 A quienes les perdonen sus pecados, les serán perdonados; a quienes no se los perdonen, no les serán perdonados. 24 Tomás, al que apodaban el Gemelo, y que era uno de los doce, no estaba con los discípulos cuando llegó Jesús. 25 Así que los otros discípulos le dijeron: —¡Hemos visto al Señor! —Mientras no vea yo la marca de los clavos en sus manos, y meta mi dedo en las marcas y mi mano en su costado, no lo creeré—repuso Tomás.
26 Una semana más tarde estaban los discípulos de nuevo en la casa, y Tomás estaba con ellos. Aunque las puertas estaban cerradas, Jesús entró y, poniéndose en medio de ellos, los saludó. —¡La paz sea con ustedes! 27 Luego le dijo a Tomás: —Pon tu dedo aquí y mira mis manos. Acerca tu mano y métela en mi costado. Y no seas incrédulo, sino hombre de fe. 28 —¡Señor mío y Dios mío!—exclamó Tomás. 29 —Porque me has visto, has creído—le dijo Jesús—; dichosos los que no han visto y sin embargo creen. 30 Jesús hizo muchas otras señales milagrosas en presencia de sus discípulos, las cuales no están registradas en este libro. 31 Pero éstas se han escrito para que ustedes crean que Jesús es el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios, y para que al creer en su nombre tengan vida.
Éste es el Evangelio de Dios.

CONFESIÓN DE LA FE El Credo Niceno 325 & 381 d.C.
Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, creador del cielo y de la tierra, y de todo lo visible e invisible.
Y creo en un solo Señor Jesucristo, Hijo único de Dios, engendrado del Padre antes de todos los siglos, Dios de Dios, luz de luz, Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, y no creado, de la misma naturaleza que el Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; por nosotros y por nuestra salvación, él bajó del cielo, y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María la virgen, y se hizo hombre; y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos de Poncio Pilato: Padeció y fue sepultado, y resucitó al tercer día, según las escrituras: Y subió al cielo, y está sentado a la derecha del Padre; y de nuevo vendrá con gloria para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos, y su reino no tendrá fin.

ORACIÓN DE LA IGLESIA
Señor Jesucristo, tú nos has dado a conocer el camino de la vida. Has completado nuestro gozo.
Tú eres nuestro Señor. Fuera de ti no tenemos bien alguno.
Danos tu don de paz y disipa toda duda de nuestros corazones por medio del evangelio de tu resurrección, para que podamos enfrentar todas las dificultades con valentía y confianza.
Tú eres nuestro Señor. Fuera de ti no tenemos bien alguno.
Ten misericordia de aquellos que viven en duda, que viven sin esperanza, e incluso de aquellos que se oponen a tu evangelio. En tu gracia, prepara sus corazones y dales oportunidades para escuchar nuevamente tu evangelio.
Tú eres nuestro Señor. Fuera de ti no tenemos bien alguno.
Guía y dirige a todos los que están en autoridad: al Presidente de los Estados Unidos, al gobernador de este estado, y a todos los legisladores y tribunales, para que la paz prevalezca entre nosotros y podamos permanecer libres para adorarte abiertamente como nuestro Señor y nuestro Dios.

Señor resucitado, contigo no hay duda; pero las preocupaciones y cargas de este mundo y las cargas de nuestros corazones nos abruman. Alivia las cargas de aquellos que luchan, [especialmente…], para que nunca duden de tu Palabra ni de tu bondad, sino que encuentren en ti su vida y su luz.

INTRODUCTION TO WORSHIP
We offer a service in Spanish with translations in English for the whole family in the Walker’s Square & Walker's Point communities. In our service, we gather before our almighty God to offer him our worship and praise. We also assemble to hear God’s holy and powerful word and to celebrate his life-giving sacraments. Through these means, God strengthens our faith and walks us ever closer to our eternal home. The congregation is invited to join in singing the songs and in speaking the parts of the service printed in bold.

Restrooms—There is one restroom located by the entrance of the church. Additional restrooms are also located downstairs.
Children in worship—We encourage all of our children to remain and participate with us in the service. However, if you are in need of a quiet space for your child, we do have a private room available by the entrance of the church.
Offering—If you are a guest with us today, please do not feel obligated to participate.

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER—HE LIVES TO GIVE ME PROOF AND PEACE
Without the resurrection of Jesus, I would have to wonder whether anything he said was true. Thomas had been taught and trained by Christ himself. He heard Jesus predict his death and resurrection. Even after hearing the eyewitness testimony of friends, Thomas still had doubts about the resurrection of Jesus.
But he lives, and it makes a difference. Today I have great comfort as someone with doubts about Christ’s promises in my life. Jesus engages me with continuing assurances in Word and sacrament. I have proof. I have peace.

St. Peter points to the resurrection as proof of the hope we have.
