SERVICE OF WORD AND SACRAMENT
CHRISTMAS DAY
From eternity, Jesus has been God, holy and majestic. When we look tenderly at the holy infant, we are looking at the same God who once told the prophet Moses, “No one may see me and live.” Yet, Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds all saw their holy God and survived. How? God became human, hiding his glory within flesh, so that he could come to us without instilling fear or dread.
A famous theologian once said, “We are to think of the Lord’s birth, where the Word became flesh, not as a past event which we recall, but as a present reality on which we gaze.” It’s not that Christ the Savior was born. It’s that Christ the Savior is born.

In the past God sent angels and prophets as messengers to his people. Now God speaks to us directly through his Son.

CONFESSION OF FAITH Nicene Creed 325 & 381 AD
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became truly human. EL SERVICIO DE LA PALABRA Y EL SACRAMENTO
DÍA DE NAVIDAD
Desde la eternidad, Jesús ha sido Dios, santo y majestuoso. Cuando contemplamos con ternura al santo niño, estamos contemplando al mismo Dios que una vez le dijo al profeta Moisés: «Nadie puede verme y seguir con vida». Sin embargo, María, José y los pastores vieron a su santo Dios y sobrevivieron. ¿Cómo? Dios se hizo hombre, ocultando su gloria en la carne, para poder venir a nosotros sin infundirnos miedo ni terror.
Un famoso teólogo dijo una vez: «Debemos pensar en el nacimiento del Señor, donde el Verbo se hizo carne, no como un acontecimiento pasado que recordamos, sino como una realidad presente que contemplamos». No es que Cristo el Salvador haya nacido, sino que Cristo el Salvador nace.

1 Dios, que muchas veces y de varias maneras habló a nuestros antepasados en otras épocas por medio de los profetas, 2 en estos días finales nos ha hablado por medio de su Hijo. A éste lo designó heredero de todo, y por medio de él hizo el universo. 3 El Hijo es el resplandor de la gloria de Dios, la fiel imagen de lo que él es, y el que sostiene todas las cosas con su palabra poderosa. Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, creador del cielo y de la tierra, y de todo lo visible e invisible.
