SERVICIO DIVINO
SEGUNDO DOMINGO DESPUÉS DE PENTECOSTÉS—DIOS AMA A LOS PECADORES
Nunca olvidaron su pasado. Moisés nunca olvidó cómo mató a un hombre en un arrebato de ira. Pablo nunca olvidó cómo había perseguido ferozmente a la Iglesia de Dios. Mateo nunca olvidó cómo, en su calidad de recaudador de impuestos para el Imperio romano, era considerado un traidor a su pueblo.
Pero Dios olvidó el pasado de ellos. Perdonó todos sus pecados y los llamó a proclamar su misericordia. Los cristianos son pecadores a quienes Dios ha llamado misericordiosamente. Solo la misericordia puede explicar por qué Jesús lleva a las personas a la fe y les promete la salvación. Solo la gracia puede explicar cómo los llama a servir según sus posibilidades, incluso en el ministerio del evangelio. Dios ama a los pecadores.

CONFESIÓN DE LOS PECADOS
Hermanos y hermanas, Jesús nos mandó: «Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas. Y ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.»
Si decimos que no tenemos pecado, nos estamos engañando, y la verdad no está en nosotros. Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios es fiel y justo para perdonarnos y purificarnos de toda maldad.
Confesemos nuestros pecados contra Dios y contra nuestros prójimos:
Dios de misericordia, confesamos que estamos esclavizados por el pecado y no podemos liberarnos nosotros mismos. Hemos pecado contra ti en pensamiento, palabra y obra, por lo que hemos hecho y por lo que hemos dejado de hacer. No te hemos amado de todo corazón; no hemos amado a nuestros prójimos como a nosotros mismos. Por amor de tu Hijo Jesucristo, ten piedad de nosotros. Perdónanos, renuévanos, y dirígenos por medio de tu Espíritu Santo, a fin de que tu voluntad sea nuestra alegría y andemos por tus caminos siempre, para gloria de tu nombre. Amén.
LA ABSOLUCIÓN
Dios todopoderoso, nuestro Padre celestial, en su gran misericordia nos ha dado a su Hijo, y por medio de él nos perdona todos nuestros pecados. A los que creen en Jesucristo, Dios les conceda el poder de ser hijos e hijas suyos, y les concede su Espíritu Santo. Todos los que creen y son bautizados serán salvos. PRIMERA LECTURA Éxodo 3:1–15
El Señor elige a Moisés para guiar a los israelitas.
3 Un día en que Moisés estaba cuidando el rebaño de Jetro, su suegro, que era sacerdote de Madián, llevó las ovejas hasta el otro extremo del desierto y llegó a Horeb, la montaña de Dios. 2 Estando allí, el ángel del SEÑOR se le apareció entre las llamas de una zarza ardiente. Moisés notó que la zarza estaba envuelta en llamas, pero que no se consumía, 3 así que pensó: «¡Qué increíble! Voy a ver por qué no se consume la zarza.»
4 Cuando el SEÑOR vio que Moisés se acercaba a mirar, lo llamó desde la zarza: —¡Moisés, Moisés!
—Aquí me tienes—respondió.
5 —No te acerques más—le dijo Dios—. Quítate las sandalias, porque estás pisando tierra santa. 6 Yo soy el Dios de tu padre. Soy el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob. Al oír esto, Moisés se cubrió el rostro, pues tuvo miedo de mirar a Dios.
7 Pero el SEÑOR siguió diciendo: —Ciertamente he visto la opresión que sufre mi pueblo en Egipto. Los he escuchado quejarse de sus capataces, y conozco bien sus penurias. 8 Así que he descendido para librarlos del poder de los egipcios y sacarlos de ese país, para llevarlos a una tierra buena y espaciosa, tierra donde abundan la leche y la miel. Me refiero al país de los cananeos, hititas, amorreos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos. 9 Han llegado a mis oídos los gritos desesperados de los israelitas, y he visto también cómo los oprimen los egipcios. 10 Así que dispónte a partir. Voy a enviarte al faraón para que saques de Egipto a los israelitas, que son mi pueblo.
11 Pero Moisés le dijo a Dios: —¿Y quién soy yo para presentarme ante el faraón y sacar de Egipto a los israelitas?
12 —Yo estaré contigo—le respondió Dios—. Y te voy a dar una señal de que soy yo quien te envía: Cuando hayas sacado de Egipto a mi pueblo, todos ustedes me rendirán culto en esta montaña.
13 Pero Moisés insistió: —Supongamos que me presento ante los israelitas y les digo: “El Dios de sus antepasados me ha enviado a ustedes.” ¿Qué les respondo si me preguntan: “¿Y cómo se llama?”
14 —Yo soy el que soy—respondió Dios a Moisés—. Y esto es lo que tienes que decirles a los israelitas: “Yo soy me ha enviado a ustedes.”
15 Además, Dios le dijo a Moisés: —Diles esto a los israelitas: “El SEÑOR, el Dios de sus antepasados, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, me ha enviado a ustedes.
Éste es mi nombre eterno; éste es mi nombre por todas las generaciones.”
Ésta es la Palabra de Dios.

Dios demuestra misericordia y paciencia al llamar a un pecador al ministerio.
12 Doy gracias al que me fortalece, Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, pues me consideró digno de confianza al ponerme a su servicio. 13 Anteriormente, yo era un blasfemo, un perseguidor y un insolente; pero Dios tuvo misericordia de mí porque yo era un incrédulo y actuaba con ignorancia. 14 Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor se derramó sobre mí con abundancia, junto con la fe y el amor que hay en Cristo Jesús.
15 Este mensaje es digno de crédito y merece ser aceptado por todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo a salvar a los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero. 16 Pero precisamente por eso Dios fue misericordioso conmigo, a fin de que en mí, el peor de los pecadores, pudiera Cristo Jesús mostrar su infinita bondad. Así llego a servir de ejemplo para los que, creyendo en él, recibirán la vida eterna. 17 Por tanto, al Rey eterno, inmortal, invisible, al único Dios, sea honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

EVANGELIO Mateo 9:9–13
A los recaudadores de impuestos se les consideraba entre los peores pecadores. Para mostrar gracia, Jesús llamó a uno de ellos para que fuera su discípulo.
9 Al irse de allí, Jesús vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, sentado a la mesa de recaudación de impuestos. «Sígueme», le dijo. Mateo se levantó y lo siguió.
10 Mientras Jesús estaba comiendo en casa de Mateo, muchos recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores llegaron y comieron con él y sus discípulos. 11 Cuando los fariseos vieron esto, les preguntaron a sus discípulos: —¿Por qué come su maestro con recaudadores de impuestos y con pecadores?
12 Al oír esto, Jesús les contestó: —No son los sanos los que necesitan médico sino los enfermos. 13 Pero vayan y aprendan qué significa esto: “Lo que pido de ustedes es misericordia y no sacrificios.” Porque no he venido a llamar a justos sino a pecadores.
Éste es el Evangelio de Dios.

CONFESIÓN DE LA FE El Credo Niceno 325 & 381 d.C.
Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, creador del cielo y de la tierra, y de todo lo visible e invisible.
Y creo en un solo Señor Jesucristo, Hijo único de Dios, engendrado del Padre antes de todos los siglos, Dios de Dios, luz de luz, Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, y no creado, de la misma naturaleza que el Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; por nosotros y por nuestra salvación, él bajó del cielo, y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María la virgen, y se hizo hombre; y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos de Poncio Pilato: Padeció y fue sepultado, y resucitó al tercer día, según las escrituras: Y subió al cielo, y está sentado a la derecha del Padre; y de nuevo vendrá con gloria para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos, y su reino no tendrá fin.

INTRODUCTION TO WORSHIP
We offer a service in Spanish with translations in English for the whole family in the Walker’s Square & Walker's Point communities. In our service, we gather before our almighty God to offer him our worship and praise. We also assemble to hear God’s holy and powerful word and to celebrate his life-giving sacraments. Through these means, God strengthens our faith and walks us ever closer to our eternal home. The congregation is invited to join in singing the songs and in speaking the parts of the service printed in bold.
WORSHIP INFORMATION & NOTES
Restrooms—There is one restroom located by the entrance of the church. Additional restrooms are also located downstairs.
Children in worship—We encourage all of our children to remain and participate with us in the service. However, if you are in need of a quiet space for your child, we do have a private room available by the entrance of the church.
Offering—If you are a guest with us today, please do not feel obligated to participate.
Member-only communion—We ask only communicant members of St. Peter and others in fellowship with the WELS to participate in communion today. For more information about this practice, please read more at stpeter.link/communion.

DIVINE SERVICE
SECOND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST—GOD LOVES SINNERS
They never forgot their past. Moses never forgot how he killed a man in a fit of anger. Paul never forgot how he had savaged the Church of God. Matthew never forgot how, as a tax collector for the Roman Empire, he was considered a traitor to his people.
But God forgot their past. He forgave all their sins and called them to proclaim his mercy. Christians are sinners whom God has mercifully called. Only mercy can explain why Jesus brings people to faith and promises them salvation. Only grace can explain how he calls them to serve as they are able, even in the ministry of the gospel. God loves sinners.

CONFESSION OF SINS

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, in his great mercy has given us his Son, and through him forgives us our sins. Tax collectors were considered among the worst of sinners. To demonstrate grace, Jesus called one to be his disciple.

CONFESSION OF FAITH Nicene Creed 325 & 381 AD
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. St. Peter Summer Meetups—Starting next Wednesday on June 17, we will have meet ups every other week at various Milwaukee Parks and Beer gardens. The first will take place at Humbodt Park from 6-8 pm.
Street Service—Join us on June 28 for our street service at outdoor meal. This will be a combined service at 10:30 am.
